REPORTS TO: Office Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities: *None
Overtime Status: *Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY: This position is phone based with heavy patient contact. Appointment schedulers are responsible for the following tasks:
- Making new patient and follow up appointments following medical practice procedures
- Correctly schedule patient appointments in the practice management system using current scheduling requirements placed by the physicians
- Schedule medical procedures and injections
- Answering multi-line incoming phone calls, assisting callers by transferring to the appropriate personnel, schedule appointments per scheduling protocol
- Ensures that updates to the schedule are imputed daily
- Obtain and verify insurance eligibility
- Schedule appointments with Exscribe and NetPractice EMR system in an efficient manner
- Communicate as needed with physicians/clinical team about any concerns or issues related to scheduling

- Must have high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multi-task
- Willingness to be cross trained to assist with other clinical duties
- Create a positive patient experience over the phone

EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE:
- One year of work experience, some of which is preferably in a medical office setting is preferred
- Experience scheduling strongly preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work performed in office environment. Involves frequent contact with staff and patients. May require working under stressful conditions. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Contact involves dealing with sick and injured people. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases.
MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Stress can be triggered by multiple staff demands and deadlines. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
