We are searching for a Innovations Nurse Spec-OB Svc who is Primary responsibility is to promote safe care for mothers and children by keeping patient safety as a focus on all unit operations and clinical practice. This position works collaboratively in the MCH service line with the Executive Director of MCH Services and the Chief Nursing Officer. Facilitate adherence to national physician and nursing MCH clinical standards and promote perinatal safety. Provide formal and informal MCH safety education. Facilitate goal setting and ensures data collection is completed as required. Active participation in service line goals and objectives is expected. This position is an active participant in MCH leadership decisions. Establish and oversee a Perinatal Safety Committee and related initiatives. Proactively liaises with Risk Management regarding MCH safety issues identification, adverse events, and safety initiatives.

  • Hours: 24 flex 32hrs
  • Shift: Day shift; 7:00am to 3:30pm; Flexibility with schedule; Must be flexible with schedule and be willing to cover two sites (SLH and CMH).
  • Location: Family Center – St. Luke’s Hospital – New Bedford, MA

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Nursing required. Current license as a Professional Registered Nurse required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and NRP required.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, multidisciplinary collaboration, interpersonal communication, and nurse education.
  • A minimum of five (5) years related work experience and three (3) years supervisory experience with progressive responsibility and accountability is required.
  • 5 or mor years’ experience in Labor and Delivery, Fetal Monitoring and Mother Baby required
  • Candidate must be willing to mentor staff.

Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus and provide required vaccination documentation unless approved for an exemption or deferral by Southcoast prior to starting employment.
