Overview
The Vice President, Technology will be responsible for our overall technology strategy and oversee the daily operations of our Information Technology Systems, Information Technology Systems and PropTech initiatives. This position will directly lead a team of employees and third-party providers. They will ensure and promote the SPM culture, values, and vision throughout the organization. This role will take a leadership role in building, implementing, and overseeing processes, workflows, and procedures and will play a critical role in helping to shape and guide the future growth and development of SPM.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Technology/General
- Member of the Executive Committee which guides multi-functional strategic initiatives across the organization.
- Create and implement the technology vision, strategy, and roadmap to drive Technology initiatives and growth.
- Create enterprise architecture review process to manage technology requests and projects.
- Build a best-in-class technology team by fostering talent and expanding associate base.
- Oversee department leading to innovation and process change at both the corporate and property level.
- Provide strategic direction and drive business results by managing the performance of staff members.
- Information Technology
- Leads development and implementation processes for the organization’s IT systems and department.
- Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
- Analyzes IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs.
- Oversees security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
- Facilitates IT security audits or investigations.
- Develops and maintains relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
- Oversight of audit compliance, cyber security, disaster recovery and business continuity processes and initiatives.
- Partnering with Executives, developing and implementing IT strategies and objectives.
- Information Systems
- Leadership
- Lead the strategic design, delivery and maintenance of the property management system(s) to support institutional priorities as directed by the executive team.
- Partner with operations team and senior division leaders to deliver an effective reporting, analytics and information delivery framework.
- Collaboratively and extensively investigate, analyze and interpret business information needs based on a strong understanding of business processes, drivers and priorities.
- Collaborate with IT team and data owners to ensure data accessibility and delivery.
- System Management
- Identify and define data assets that relate to critical business functions.
- Identify data quality issues and support development of information governance standards.
- Analyze end-user reporting requirements and develop reports and dashboards as per business requirements.
- Assist with data and analysis requests, providing detailed backups and explanations as needed.
- Ensure software licensing laws are followed.
- Schedule and manage system upgrades.
- Provide testing support for upgrades and releases, including integration testing from various sources to target systems.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation.
- Systems Training
- Coordinate with the company’s training department and support the training of system users by acting as a subject matter expert for procedural execution of all activities related to the company’s property management system(s).
- Document processes and assist different functions with process optimization
- Draft and maintain procedures to ensure uniform, accurate, and consistent data are present
Required Skills and Abilities
- Education: Has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or any other related field. An equivalent of this educational requirement in working experience is also acceptable for the position.
- Experience: Must have had at least 10 years of working experience implementing and managing similar property management systems, preferably working in the position of a Head of Information Systems.
- Analytical Skills: Analytical skills are imperative for this position and a candidate must, therefore, portray an ability to enable data-driven decisions and show a deep interest and comfort working with ROI and metric-driven models.
- Communication Skills: Possess superior communication skills and displays comfort interacting with senior executives and external business partners and shows extreme clarity in the conveyance of information and instructions down the line and across departments. The ability to explain complex technical matters to individuals with varying degrees of technical understanding is critical.
- Leadership/People Skills: Possess exceptional leadership skills, being able to lead the ongoing evolution of the company’s property management systems while addressing the needs of many peers, departments and constituents.
