Role Summary:
Responsible for soliciting new retail lending and deposit relationships from prospective customers and expanding existing relationships in accordance with the long range goals of the Bank. Properly underwrites, negotiates, structures and arranges the closing of consumer loans. Perform a variety of customer services such as: opening new customer accounts and selling retail Bank products and services.
Specific Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities):
Ability to identify potential customers, initiate contacts and obtain appointments to establish new relationships.- Proactively manage loan portfolio to ensure a minimum of delinquencies, substandard loans and documentation exceptions.
- Refer loans, when appropriate, to other lenders
- Make regular business development calls to solicit new business or referrals and improve services to existing clients.
- Introduce clients to other Bank business service specialists as needed to fully meet client needs.
- Improve community awareness of the Bank. Participate in community activities to increase the Bank’s visibility and to generate new business opportunities.
- Perform all duties associated with opening, maintaining and closing Bank retail accounts per Bank policy guidelines.
- Actively sell and cross-sell Bank products and services in a professional manner. Display enthusiasm for Bank products and services. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all Bank products and services. Identify customer needs and encourage use of Bank products and services.
- Ensure business compliance with all legal and regulatory mandates as well as all Bank policies and procedures.

Functional responsibilities include:
- Balance cash drawer per bank policy. Balance cash items daily, clearing all items in 30 days.
- Monitor cash limits per Bank policy.
- Manage branch vault and cash shipments.
- Review e-mail, memos, fraud alerts, and revised Quick References daily for updates.
- Prepare operational charge-off reports.
- Manage Monthly Internal Controls reports.
- Balance ATM per Bank policy and manage any related problems.
- Adhere to and ensure that all security policies and procedures are enforced.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:
Proven ability to conduct productive business development calls.- Experience in originating, underwriting and documenting consumer loans.
- Thorough knowledge of all Bank retail products and services. A complete knowledge of Bank lending policy.
- Knowledge of retail branch operations (teller and customer service).
- Knowledge of deposit and lending laws and regulations.
- Ability to sell and refer Bank products and services.
- Ability to organize and schedule daily appointments.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining good customer and staff relations.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor degree preferred.- One to two years previous experience in customer contact or sales roles preferred.
- Exposure to consumer lending.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Capable user of Southern Bank computer systems and technology, including word-processing, spreadsheets, Internet and internal software.
