Become an Engineering Operations Principal Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be responsible for managing Operational Support and Quality Engineering for Design Engineering. This role’s responsibilities include providing strategic direction for the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS), shepherding large apparatus procurement process with supply chain and project engineering team, providing SharePoint governance, and publishing of standards & specifications , overseeing the design compatible units, resource planning, and quality engineering. You will lead a ~45-person department, including Senior Managers and front line Managers.

- Provide leadership, communicate vision and direction to team, allocate resources, identify barriers to team objectives and work with employees to determine how to resolve and overcome.
- Work cross functionally with peer organizations to clarify and enhance roles and responsibilities between groups to improve efficiency and quality of work across the entire engineering organizations.
- Own the department’s Quality Management System.
- Advance Design Engineering contractor quality system.
- Lead several of design engineering critical support areas including Quality Engineering and Compliance, Standards and Specifications,Publishing and Major Equipment Procurement, and Resource Planning and Performance Management (RPPM).
- Maintain a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to focus on their personal safety, follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices, and encouraging a safety culture where employees speak up and look out for each other.
- Evaluate employee performance, make hiring decisions, perform coaching, training, and employee focused development by providing timely feedback and support to create a healthy work environment.
Qualifications
The essentials
- Seven or more years of combined experience in managing or supervising a diverse workforce, staff, or team or project management experience.
- Experience developing and implementing an organization’s vision.
The preferred
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical discipline.
- Experience leading quality management and/or assurance program efforts i.e. Quality Management System.
- Experience leading a diverse multi-layered team focused on work environment, change management and employee development.
- Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills with experience presenting and interacting with all levels of the organization, including executive leadership and various stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, communication and negotiating skills to build consensus with stakeholders to develop and maintain partnerships with client organizations and senior management.
- Strong collaboration and team-building experience.
- Direct responsibility for quality management, engineering, supplier management, SharePoint development or resource planning.
- Experience creating and executing cross-functional business strategies.

- Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
