Field Service Technician (Curb Box Inspector)

What You Will Do: Valve Boxes and Curb Boxes are underground devices that protect valves within water, wastewater, and gas utility lines. They also permit access for valve operation.  In this position the technician will locate, open, survey and clean out the Curb Box to ensure proper function.  Additionally, Technicians will be a cross trained learning the skill of Inside Pipe Inspections (IPI) for natural gas leak survey. This will require employees to enter customer homes to inspect gas pipes to ensure its integrity.  Southern Cross takes all precautions to ensure the safety of its employees providing proper personal protection equipment (PPE) and following policy and procedures to create a safe working environment.      Main Duties: ·            Accurately detect and classify gas leaks  ·            Process required data accurately and timely  ·            Complete work in an efficient manner and meet all required completion dates  ·            Operate equipment in a safe and conscientious manner  ·            Work is performed in residential, commercial, and/or industrial settings    Work Requirements: ·            Valid, Unexpired Driver’s License ·            Reliable Transportation for Daily Work Use ·            Proof of Insurance & Minimum Limits of Liability of 100/300 ·            Pass A 7-Year Background Check & Drug Screening ·            Proficient In Using Technology ·            Must Adhere To Safety Requirements & Have Customer Service Experience ·            Able To Work Outdoors In Various Weather & Walk 5+ Miles Per Day ·            Minimum of 18 years of age ·            H.S. Diploma or GED Equivalency ·            Verified Documents Confirming Eligibility to Work in the U.S.   Work Status & Shift: Status: Full-Time, Monday-Friday Location Curb Box Technicians:  Boone County, KY/Campbell County, KY & Surrounding Areas:  Highland Heights, Elanger, Covington, Newport, KY  Curb Box Technician Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM Overtime may be offered based on project need.  Personal Vehicle:  This position requires the use of a reliable personal vehicle, must have proof of insurance & minimum limits of liability of 100/300.  Technicians will be paid a non-taxable mileage rate of .575 cents per mile for the daily use of their personal vehicle.  (see company vehicle policy for commute restrictions).       Physical & Environmental Requirements: Bending, crouching, kneeling, and walking several miles per day; ability to walk 5 or more miles per day (sometimes more), able to carry a minimum of 20 pounds of equipment, able to walk in all kinds of terrain ie:  city sidewalks, vehicular traffic, alley ways, fields, tall grass, urban and rural settings; may encounter barking dogs and wild life; willing to work in a diverse community, we work in a wide range of neighborhoods in all communities; able to work independently and alone, be able to effectively communicate with customers in a courteous manner displaying excellent customer service and perform other duties as assigned; performs all work in a safe manner; observes and follows all company/client procedures; possess excellent customer service/communication skills; be available for overtime (which may include weekends); Be comfortable using computers/technology.    What You Will Earn (Pay & Benefits) Starting Pay is $16.00 per hour plus a non-taxable mileage rate of .575 cents per mile for the daily use of their personal vehicle.  (see company vehicle policy for commute restrictions).   Benefits include: Mileage Reimbursement, Medical/Dental/Vision Plan, 401K Plan, Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, Paid Training & Development, Company Discount Program, and many more benefits!
