General Summary:
The Meter Installation Technician objective is to provide service for the installation of meters at utility Locations. Primarily responsibilities will include: Managing a daily schedule for work accomplishment, Accountability of Assigned Meters, Conduct work within a Work Order Management system, Removal of old meters, Installation of new meters for residential and commercial uses. High level of public interaction is required working in an outdoor environment.
Duties and core responsibilities include the following
· Removal of old electric meter with the Re-Installation of a new electric meter
· Performs meter change outs per a specified manner.
· Conduct work through a Work Order system
· Manage all inventory of new and old Meters
· Working with utility personnel and utility consumers.
· Responsible use of a company truck
· Perform other responsibilities as assigned or required.
Required Sills
· High school or equivalent
· Must have firm understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.
· Must have computer skills including the ability to operate a PC, mobile handheld applications, e-mail, and navigation systems.
· Must conduct in a professional manner and have strong communication skills to communicate effectively with public, utility and internal teams.
· Individual must be willing and able to travel and stay overnight four to five weeks of their work schedule.
· Must have a valid driver’s license.
· The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is constantly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
· Candidate must submit to and pass pre-employment physical agility testing, background and driving record check, drug and alcohol screening.
Work Experience
· Electrical or utility line work experience preferred, but not required.
· On the job training and supervision will be provided prior to working alone
Level of Education
· High school diploma or equivalent
Rate of Pay
· $22.00 - $28.00 per hour (based on qualifications)
