The Patient Relations Specialist is a Registered Nurse Role and is responsible to provide monitoring and analytical support to the Patient Relations Manager.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for reviewing/monitoring patient relations RDE (Remote Data Entry) reporting system
- Responsible for reviewing and resolving specific patient complaints/grievances in the form of patient satisfaction surveys, in patient visits, letters, phone calls, emails, walk-ins, and potentially other forms of communication; investigates and resolves the matter in a formal written follow-up process within CMS guidelines
- Performs chart reviews on patient relations issues for outcomes, and potential risk issues
- Responsible for referrals to IP, Quality, Nursing, Ancillary Depts and Admin for all Patient Relations issues and selected risk issues
- Collaborates with managers/supervisors for responses to patient relations/selected risk issues for completion and closure within CMS guidelines
- Performs new staff general orientation and presents at new Physician orientation as needed
- Provides hospital back up coverage for dept when manager is unavailable and or after hours
- Reviews patient charges for pertinent pt relation adjustments and completes adjustments
- Investigates loss of patient items and initiates the reimbursement process when warranted with the help unit manager/supervisors
- Directly responsible for monitoring TNT reports for pt relations
- Directly responsible for monitoring service recovery usage for specific patients/depts.
- Performs chart reviews/follow-up on selected risk issues, ie: uncomplicated falls/treatment events as directed by manager.
- Assists and coordinates chairing of PSPI committee including preparing agenda and minutes for manager’s approval.
- Assist manager with RCA identification, investigation and planning
- Provides general clerical support for the dept, ie: maintains dept stock/supplies
- Performs audits/chart reviews and compiles data into usable format for meetings
- Assist in identification; evaluation, and treatment of risk events within the hospital at the direction of the Patient Relations Manager and within the framework of the goals, objectives, and mission of SIH.
- Current Illinois RN license
- Technical Experience: 3 years acute care hospital experience
