At Comprehensive Pain Consultants of the Carolinas (CPC), we work with our patients to heal from pain and resolve its physical, neurological, and psychological impacts.
We are seeking a full time Prior Authorization Coordinator . The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of medical office experience and be energetic, compassionate, and extremely detail oriented.
This position functions as an integral member of the CPC team.
The Prior Authorization Coordinator will be responsible for performing all tasks regarding obtaining prior approvals from payers for our client’s services.
- Review chart documentation to ensure patient meets medical policy guidelines.
- Prioritize incoming authorization requests according to urgency.
- Obtain authorization via payer website or by phone and follow up regularly on pending cases.
- Initiate appeals for denied authorizations.
- Respond to clinic questions regarding payer medical policy guidelines.
- Confirm accuracy of CPT and ICD-10 diagnoses in the procedure order.
- Contact patients to discuss authorization status and scan all documentation into patient’s chart.
- Comply with HIPAA compliance policies.
The right person for this role will possess Above-average patience, empathy and compassion when working with patients. Demonstrate of ethical and professional conduct, including the ability to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA).

This full-time, 40 hour per week position in Asheville, NC offers :

Education and Experience :
- High school diploma
- We prefer at least two years of experience but are willing to train newer teammates with the right focus on patient care, service, and teamwork.
- Medical Assistants are encouraged to apply.
- Current ACLS and / or CPR certification
