SSPC has an opening in our Outside Sales Representative Training Program. The selected candidate for this position will be based in Spartanburg, SC, and will spend an 18 to 24-month training period in the Customer Service Department before transitioning into the Outside Sales Representative role. During your training period in Customer Service, you will receive the guidance, mentoring, product knowledge, and IT systems skills that will help you succeed as an Outside Sales Representative. We do not require prior experience for this position.
Education Requirements:
- Four-year BA/BS undergraduate degree (or higher)
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Word, Excel, and Teams
- Overall willingness to learn new systems and technology
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Superior written communication and phone contact handling skills
- Customer orientated with the ability to adapt/respond to different types of personalities
- Travel is required as an Outside Sales Representative
Job Description and Responsibilities Include:
Account Management:
- In coordination with your immediate manager, develop and implement a comprehensive sales plan that includes establishing and executing new and existing sales strategies for assigned territory/key accounts.
- Play a lead role in working with internal employees to penetrate key accounts and aggressively expand relationships.
- Gather detailed information about accounts, identify decision-makers, understand strategic business challenges and priorities, and lead team in analyzing information and prioritizing opportunities critical to accounts.
- Responsible for proposals, account or market plans, and forecast/report sales activity.
Customer Service
- Enter sales orders in the company’s system. This includes verifying correct information, i.e. bill to & ship to addresses, product quantities, unit of measures, products, pricing, etc.
- Communicate with customers regarding order status, i.e., send order acknowledgments, follow up when the order is ready to ship, if the order will be late, etc.
- Monitor phone calls and email, and responding promptly
- Work closely with the internal Team to onboard new customers, produce product trials, create unique product IDs, help resolve customer complaints, etc.
