What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physician Assistant position at Southlake Orthopaedics?
Southlake Orthopaedics is looking for a full time Physician Assistant to join our team.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the surgeon in surgery
- Perform patient progress notes, history and physical intake, triage, and consults.
- Issue and transcribe diagnostic orders and prescriptions.
- Formulate a working diagnosis, develop and implement treatment plans.
- Monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
- Evaluate patient status during hospital rounds.
- Perform independent evaluations in emergency situations.
- Verify operating room equipment and materials are in a state of readiness.
- Participate in on-call schedule.
- Offer counseling and education to patients as needed.
- Performs clinical duties including, but not limited to, wound care, injections, draw labs, apply and remove dressings/bandages, casting, etc.
- Performs any additional work-related tasks as needed, including, but not limited to, taking nurse calls, escorting patients from the waiting area, scanning, importing disks, and room prep.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree Physician Assistant from a program accredited by the ARC-PA required
- Successful completion of PANCE required
- Unrestricted license (or eligibility to apply for licensure) to practice in the state of Alabama required
- 2 years of Orthopaedic surgery experience preferred
