POSITION SUMMARY

The Fire Protection-Design Engineer I will assist higher-level designers in tasks such as the creation of engineering documents, hydraulic calculations, shop drawings, field prints, and specifications.

What you’ll do:

• Performs basic deliverables and products such as hydraulic calculations, drawings, and specifications related to water-based fire suppression systems under supervision of Senior Engineers or Designers.
• Performs basic hydraulic calculations, equipment selection and pipe sizing, friction loss calculations, etc.
• Assists in coordinating all aspects of the project design with project management, architects, and other trades through the completion phase of a project.    
• Performs and audits CADD drafting work in AutoSprink and REVIT.

What you’ll need to be successful:

• Four-year degree in Engineering or related field
• 0-4 years’ experience
• EIT and/or NICET certification preferred
• Basic Knowledge of applicable system design, such as automatic sprinkler systems, standpipes, fire pumps, etc.
• Basic ability to read fire protection, architectural, civil, mechanical and plumbing plans
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office Products, such as Excel
