The Manager Talent Management invests in the future of Southwest’s People in their work supporting the development and management of talent programs throughout Southwest. This role leads the Talent Management Team and coordinates Company-wide efforts to deliver talent programs in accordance with organizational objectives and strategic priorities. This includes implementing Talent Management frameworks, processes, and tools for the talent cycle, talent calibrations, talent playbooks, performance management and succession planning. This Manager aims to attract, measure, develop, diversity, and manage Southwest’s talent pool. They’ll have the opportunity to learn and grow in their expertise each day, champion and develop their Team, and drive the future of Southwest Airlines.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

- Guide and lead Team Members using SWA talent management practices to coach, develop, and engage Employees
- Adhere to Company Values and competencies to foster a Culture of inclusion, recognition, and support of a safe work environment
- Invest in Leadership and self-growth through participating in continuous learning and development
- Build talent management practices externally to develop and stay current with Talent Management trends
- Collaborate with key Stakeholders and use innovation in the design, development and project management of talent management programs and initiatives
- Oversee the design and development of tools, materials, and processes that drive talent management practices
- Evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of talent management strategies and initiatives against the short-term and long-term needs of the business and function and recommend and implement changes as needed
- Provide talent management through Leadership to Executive Leadership
- Provide talent planning, development, bench strength, and succession expertise to Senior and Executive Leaders to cultivate buy-in and partnership
- Oversee the creation of strategy for corporate communication and change management efforts required to ensure successful implementation and adoption of talent strategic initiatives across Southwest Airlines
- Oversee the creation and delivery of presentations to Executive Leadership including business cases, project proposals, status reports, process improvement recommendations, as well as providing consultative support regarding strategic objectives and tactical program actions
- Work with the Company's Executive Management Team to establish a sound plan of management succession that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of the Company

- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Knowledge of performance management, succession planning, and career development
- Skilled in understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
- Skilled in understanding and applying information to contribute to the organization’s strategic plan
- Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Ability to come up with a number of ideas about a topic (the number of ideas is important, not their quality, correctness, or creativity)
- Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
- Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
- Leading People (Direct Supervision)
- Developing and implementing Talent Management programs for a large organization
- Consulting experience working with Senior Leaders
- Preferred: Skilled in change principles and competencies is preferred.
- Preferred: Experience with Leader-level communication is preferred.
- Preferred: Experience / working knowledge of Workday is preferred.
