As the Production Controller you will drive total building efficiency and service level for MDI Warehouse through the use of forecasting models and tools to ensure effective and accurate daily workload planning and scheduling, and future staffing and hiring. Will partner with the distribution executive leadership and senior teams to ensure communication needs are met.
M-F 5am to 3pm
Record Keeping and Data Entry
1. Compile and communicate information on operational decisions, trends and historical information.
2. Identify trends using reports, on-floor leaders, technician input, camera footage, and issue escalation tracking to identify successes and process improvement opportunities. Prioritize opportunities and participate in process improvement task assignment and some execution.
3. Identify opportunities to improve training or support processes in both automated and manual portions of building, as well as control center operations.
4. Analyze and interpret data for weekly and monthly recaps and trend analysis. Develop and communicate recommendations with senior leadership teams. Present analysis to operations leadership and senior teams to drive departmental and total distribution performance aligning with building goals.
Data Analysis
5. Create and communicate production and staffing plans for departments and shifts. Update the teams on progress, adjustments and the impact to plans.6. Ensure executives understand and are informed of distributions upcoming priorities and contingency plans to achieve positive DPR and LOS results.
7. Share process communication with leadership team and, when necessary on system issues, enhancements and shut-downs to minimize the impact on workload.
8. Liaison between senior team and operations.
9. Provide production updates throughout day and at end of shift to distribution leadership as needed.
Budgeting
10. Build daily and long-term staffing discussions with the distribution leadership, considering the impact on cross-training, seasonal strategies, contingency planning and the impact of overtime.
11. May lead building-level committees and events, coordinating departmental and lead/supervisor teams to ensure events are executed successfully and aligned with building and company goals. Leadership opportunities also include but are not exclusive or limited to the following: building capacity management, freight special events, downtime or holiday shutdown planning, Best Practice committees, safety committees or Events committees.
12. Will act as primary contact for outside support partners in each area as needed.
Logistics Strategy
13. Discuss and drive Customer/Supplier relationships, critical KPI goals and objectives during regular department meetings with distribution leadership. Make decisions for all areas of operations based on available information.
14. Gather data from multiple sources including equipment monitoring tools, on-floor leaders, technicians, camera footage, and reporting tools, and consolidate into daily operational strategy. Use production planning tool (PPT) to build operational plans including staff allocation through each department.
15. Use experience and data to project staffing and optimal operational plans for longer range view of each week. Shares week-long planning view with lead teams and makes recommendations based on long-range plans.
16. Regulate building operations through periodic reviews of department and building progress to goals, and plan throughout shift. Understand when to make a change in staffing or volume plans; develop contingencies and act on them/delegate to others to act on contingencies.
17. Receive escalated issues from departments, develop and execute on contingencies when appropriate to minimize negative impact to throughput and service level.
Bachelors Degree
Analytics or Supply Chain related field preferred.
Ideal candidate has minimum 2 years experience in manufacturing or distribution center. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations with strong interpersonal skills. Strong reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to motivate teams and resolve conflict. Advanced PC skills, including prior experience working with staffing and forecasting tools/software preferred.
Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures and relate them to others. Ability to lead, coach, and influence executives on operational strategies. Resiliency, adaptability and attention to detail must be strengths. Strong prioritization, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Ability to navigate multiple levels of the organization and foster inclusive culture. Applicable management/supervisory experience preferred.
