Spark1 is currently accepting resumes from qualified individuals for a Director of Cultivation. The director of cultivation is a senior-level position within the cannabis industry. They are responsible for overseeing all aspects of cultivation, including plant selection, growth cycles, and harvesting techniques.
The director of cultivation oversees all employees in this department as well as any contractors who may be working onsite. This includes ensuring that they have the proper training and equipment to do their jobs safely and effectively.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that all employees follow company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, and other issues related to employee conduct
- Reviewing reports from the production team to ensure they have complied with procedures
- Managing the facility’s finances to ensure compliance with internal guidelines and regulations
- Ensuring that all equipment is functioning correctly and that all supplies are available
- Handling issues related to employee performance such as training, discipline, and termination in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Providing leadership in creating an environment where employees can succeed
- Ensuring that the facility has adequate supplies of water, light, and nutrients for plants to grow
- Providing direction to supervisors of other departments such as production or cultivation
Communication: Cultivation directors need to be able to communicate effectively with their team and other departments. This includes being able to convey information about the company’s cultivation goals and how individual employees can help achieve those goals. It also includes being able to communicate effectively with suppliers and other external parties.
Customer service: Cultivation directors often interact with customers and clients, so customer service skills can help you in this role. You may be responsible for answering questions, providing information and resolving issues for customers. Customer service skills can help you develop positive relationships with customers and help your company grow.
Product knowledge: Cultivators need to have extensive product knowledge to ensure they’re making the right decisions for their business. This includes knowing the different types of products they offer, the benefits of each and how to properly market them. This knowledge can help you make informed decisions about what products to sell, how to sell them and how to improve them.
Teamwork: Cultivation involves working with a variety of people, including other cultivation staff, security personnel, maintenance workers and more. As the director, you may need to lead these teams and help them work together to achieve common goals. Cultivation directors also work with other departments, such as marketing and sales, to ensure the company’s cultivation goals align with the cultivation team’s goals.
Qualifications:
- Must hold or obtain a Montana marijuana worker permit(Employeer will reimburse for cost on first pay check).
- Possess cannabis experience at minimum of 15,000Sq (preferably at large scale).
- 4 plus years of agriculture experience in a cannabis environment
- Experience with various grow mediums, crop management software, and commercial irrigation equipment
- Knowledge of plant diseases, pests, and IPM solutions
- Enjoys working in a face paced multi-
- Associates Degree / Bachelor's Degree in Plant Science, Agronomy, Plant Biology, Horticulture, or related field.
- Ability to work independently in a highly organized manner.
