Position Overview:
The EH&S Manager provides technical safety and health support to production and corporate personnel. Develops corporate safety and health programs and objectives and coordinates safety training programs. Monitors safety and health regulations and provides technical support to warehouse and corporate personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations. The EHS Manager will provide safety leadership and support to the operations. The position will work to create and enforce a culture of safety within our organization and jointly implement programs, policies, and assessments to ensure the facility (and all of its team members) are in compliance with all internal and governmental health, safety and environmental regulations.
Responsibilities:
- The position will play a key leadership role in reducing the risk of incidents and injuries and will drive the implementation of systems that support the company policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Performs internal self-assessment activities, and monitors, tracks, and reports key EHS metrics.
- Ensures warehouse-wide compliance with all OSHA or other state/local laws and regulations, including the Company’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program. Maintain compliance with OSHA, and federal and state regulations concerning employment and safety-related requirements. Ensures communications to plant operations and corporate management. May perform ad hoc compliance audits.
- Conduct incident investigations to ensure completeness and accuracy, develop and track corrective actions, act as a change agent for the area, lead teams to make process improvements, and reduce the risk of injury.
- Responsible for conducting safety walks to ensure safe practices are being observed and to note any unsafe acts, faulty equipment or non-compliance with any safety-related policies. Follows up promptly on corrections required. Review, approve, and write Risk Assessments.
- Manage the workers' compensation claims. Work in coordination with General Counsel and Human Resources regarding litigated claims as necessary.
- Participate in claim reviews with brokers and carriers in order to expedite claims resolution and closures.
- Manage and maintain all OSHA logs.
- Serve as a lead member of the safety committee.
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct training programs for all facilities on OSHA regulations and safe work behaviors and maintains all records (toolbox talks).
- Keeps track of forklift certification and is capable of delivering training and issuing certificates.
- Maintain first aid/CPR training and AED maintenance company-wide
- Ensure that Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are compliant, maintained, current, and audited at all warehouse locations.
- Assisting with tracking new regulations and assessing the impact on operations.
- Preparing incident and other EHS-related metric reports.
- Ensure the development and regular communication of warehouse and office emergency evacuation plans.
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct training programs for temporary event/onsite health and safety protocols.
- Establish a network of Health and Safety partners who specialize in domestic and international live events
- Travel to other manufacturing/warehouse facilities to offer support, assess, make recommendations, facilitate any changes and train on-site. Potential for travel onsite to larger programs to ensure health and safety plans are being implemented and adhered to.
- Establish and maintain occupational health vendors local to all facilities with instructions for General Manager and staff on seeking treatment.
- Follow up on DOT physicals as needed.
- Support Marketing/Biz Development on RFPs with health and safety responses.
- Partner with IT for a comprehensive disaster recovery process and maintain the safety component.
- Monitor waste removal.
- Supervise all capital projects with regard to the safety of individuals and work in tandem with vendors.
- Support HR with mandatory postings at all facilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience (preferably in Occupational Safety & Health)
- 5-10 years of experience in an Environmental Health and Safety role.
- A minimum of two years of total manufacturing/warehouse experience would be an asset.
- ASP or CSP Certification preferred
- Working knowledge of Federal/State Regulatory Requirements (OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc).
- OSHA certification preferred
Preferred Skills:
- Proficient in Google Drive and Microsoft Office Intermediate computer skills (e.g. MS Office including Excel and Word) are essential.
- Strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a team player

- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of Sustainability and CSR policies and reporting.
