Who we need

Want to be at the forefront of analyzing a fun, enthusiast driven $50 billion industry? SEMA is looking for a new Market Research Manager who really enjoys understanding consumer behavior, uncovering industry trends, and delivering strategic insights to join our client-side team.

You have several years of experience managing primary market research studies from start to finish, with an understanding of a variety of methods. You really enjoy delving into data sources to find the story and have a passion for delivering clear, impactful insights.

We are a small team that works on a variety of high visibility projects. We work on a mix of topic and utilize a variety of data sources, on both the business and consumer side. Any day may find us crafting a questionnaire or writing a new report or presenting a webinar.

As part of the SEMA MR team, you’ll work on the full life-cycle of market research projects, from defining strategic objectives to developing insights that drive action, to publishing reports used by thousands of companies across our industry.

Our members include manufacturers, distributors, retailers, auto restorers, and more, who all share a passion for the auto industry and the hobby of customizing cars and trucks.

If this sounds interesting so far, ask yourself “do I have the experience and motivation” to:

• Manage primary market research studies from start to finish
  • Work with stakeholders to understand business challenges
  • Develop methodology recommendations and project plans
  • Manage full-service vendor relationships or “do it yourself” projects
  • Analyze data from multiple sources and uncover impactful insights
  • Create persuasive reports and dynamic presentations
• Learn all about the automotive aftermarket: what it is and how it operates
• Serve as a key resource for understanding the latest trends affecting the industry

You might be a good fit if:

• You worked for the last 3 years executing primary market research (supplier or client)
• You know when and how to use qual vs. quant and can create a sample or tab plan
• You are excellent at creating insightful output with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.
• You can get hands-on with statistical software such as SPSS
• You’re good at finding and communicating the story in the data
• You like to work in a casual, often fun, collaborative team environment
• You have an interest in learning about the world of cars and trucks and customization

** Candidates must reside in the Los Angeles or Detroit metropolitan areas **

After initial training hybrid may be available depending on the needs of the association.
