What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP Policy position at SPECTRUM?

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for developing a deep understanding of legislative and regulatory issues affecting the company and working with a team to develop the company’s policy positions and strategy. Analyze legislative proposals to assess business impact. Work closely with internal and external colleagues, including government officials, industry trade associations, peer companies, think tanks, academics, and third party groups, to develop policy proposals that advance business objectives.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to advance business goals and enhance the customer experience.
  • Develop and define company positions on policy issues and create and execute strategy for achieving policy goals.
  • Actively monitor, analyze, and assess the impact of pending and potential regulatory and regulatory proceedings on the company and design strategies to further the company’s business objectives.
  • Develop and draft strategic proposals and support documentation regarding key business policy objectives.
  • Draft policy memoranda for executives, including CEO.
  • Build relationships with companies and outside advocacy groups and think tanks to support and achieve regulatory objectives.
  • Review and participate in the development and drafting of regulatory filings, legislative proposals and messaging documents.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on legislative and regulatory matters.
  • Prepare and present company positions before government authorities and at public events.
  • Develop and maintain professional and social contacts with government officials and agencies.
  • Coordinate with business and legal contacts regarding policy objectives of the business.
  • Coordinate with Communications team as needed to support positive media relations.
  • Perform other duties as requested.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports and legal documents
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret statutes, regulations, agency notices, and public filings
Ability to work independently
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication and to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
Knowledge of video, broadband, voice and mobile products and services
Detailed knowledge of regulatory and legislative procedures and processes

Education
Bachelor's degree
Law degree – preferred
