The Purchasing Manager is a key member of the operations team and is responsible for overall purchasing activities and overall leadership of the purchasing team. As a manager, the Purchasing Manager ensures that the manufacturing floor is supplied with the necessary materials to ship orders on time to customers, while also meeting purchasing cost standards.

- Works with Material Lead to determine daily schedule to plan work and assignments for the shift to encourage the efficient utilization of employees, equipment, and facilities.
- Responsible for the Cycle Count Process and adjusts inventory accordingly. Determines root cause of inventory inaccuracies and takes steps to correct same.
- Responsible for the incoming quality control process.
- Purchases inventory, non-inventory, and MRO materials as assigned. Interfaces with vendors to meet internal requirements and reduce costs.
- Anticipates and determines causes of delays in department operations and takes appropriate action to meet deadlines.
- Responsible for assuring employees have the materials, supplies, components, tools and follow procedures necessary to efficiently perform their duties.
- Communicates and supports company goals and objectives.
- Responsible for all receiving documents completed accurately and timely.
- Develops, recommends, and implements improvements in processes and procedures
- Provide overall leadership and management to the Purchasing Team.
- Serve as primary contact for, and provide overall management of, established suppliers (domestic and international); Take primary responsibility for escalation and resolution of purchasing related issues.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of purchased items, balancing financial, operational excellence, and warehouse space priorities.
- Review and approve quotes, purchase order price, quantities
- Drive cost reduction and material savings without reducing quality
- Measure supplier performance through supplier scorecard.
- Drive employee training and development; Ensure skillsets, performance, and organization can support current and future business needs.
- Drive continuous improvement
- Support non-manufacturing purchasing requests, including supplies, Maintenance, R&D, and Office, among others.
- Ensure continuous (24/7/365) manufacturing operations through ownership and management of the Material Resource Planning (MRP) function; Determine necessary order quantities and delivery timing.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of purchased items, balancing financial, operational excellence, and warehouse space priorities.
- Drive cost reduction and material savings without reducing quality or performance.
- Multi-site purchasing responsibility.
- Four-year degree preferred, but not required.
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
- Two years post-secondary required/
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a leader, supervisor, and/or manager.
- Proficiency with ERP systems
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Buyer, Planner/Buyer, and/or Commodity Manager in a manufacturing environment. Record of accomplishment of increasing levels of responsibility.
