Material/Inventory Coordinator (Manufacturing)

The Material/Inventory Coordinator (AKA...Water Spider) is responsible for managing the purchased and manufacturing parts supermarkets for the designated value stream. The focus of this job is on producing high-quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines, and procedures. Precise and consistent work output is essential requiring patience and a willingness to handle and complete one task at a time. Consistent, error-free work based on defined regulations and standards are key measures of job performance success. The job environment promotes steady, methodical work output so that job routines can be completed on time and error-free.
Hourly Pay Rate: $19-$21 (Plus Overtime)
Hours: Start time is 6:00 a.m. and End time will vary depending on current needs. This is typically around an 8-hour shift, but employees need to have the flexibility to work later. OT opportunities are a strong possibility. Flexibility from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. is required.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor material flow
- Manage inventory levels and accuracy in the manufacturing system through the monitoring of physical inventory counts and inventory transactions that affect the assigned value stream/cell
- Update Heijunka boards and replenishment systems
- Performs cycle counts and works with Inventory Analyst to have adjustments made to insure inventory accuracy is maintained
- Analyzes and determines estimated ship dates on orders based on material availability and through coordination with the Assembly Cell Lead
- Perform material replenishment
- Will perform lead duties/functions in the absence of the cell lead
- Manage inventory levels and communicates potential shortage to manufacturing and/or purchasing to minimize stock outages
- Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of inventory, which includes monitoring all inventory transactions within the designated value stream
- Communicate with purchasing
- Works closely with upstream suppliers and downstream customers
- Must monitor and communicate the performance of the Receiving Department, Bench Assembly Workers, and Shipping Department in the following Supermarket rules
- Assist in training of new shop employees in the rules of the Supermarket and Electronic Kanban
Skills:
- Good mathematical aptitude
- Competent with MS Excel and Word and basic computer skills
- Lean implementer certification preferred
- Must be flexible to perform a variety of assignments and adapt to changing conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed
- Ability to make recommendations and effectively participate in the implementation of plant policies and procedures
- Ability to work well with others
Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in a Lean manufacturing environment is required
- Prefer lean implementer certification
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Associate degree (preferred)
- This individual may be required to lift items up to 75 lbs (with assistance)
- Ability to pass background and drug screen
- Longevity in previous positions
