Role
Are you innately curious, passionate about building impactful analyses and a truth seeker using financial data? Splunk is looking for an individual to join its dynamic finance team to boost Splunk’s fast growing business. Candidates will have outstanding partnership and communication skills, balance multiple priorities, and handle the ambiguity that comes in a dynamic Technology and Product organization.
Reporting to the Tech and Product Director, this analyst is an excel guru who will build functional spend models and apply heavy data analytics to understand core inputs to influence and shape strategy. This is an outstanding opportunity to be a key FP&A business partner supporting Splunk’s world-class engineering organization.
Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!
- Become core member of the financial close process, working closely with business partners to accurately record expenses as well as managing budget and forecasts.
- Partner with functional departments and accounting team to prepare month-end accruals.
- Assist in developing annual operating plans, monthly financial forecasts, and ongoing analysis of actual versus plan and forecast.
- Develop and enhance policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the financial planning & analysis function and organization.
- Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances. Work with team members to enhance business unit financial and operational performance trends (historical and forecasted) using appropriate metrics.
- Provide counsel on financial matters that focus on expense control. Suggest solutions, resulting implications, key actions, and strategic implications.
- Review and approve Purchase Orders for budgeted spend as well as approve invoices for budgeted goods received or services performed.
- Collaborate with various functional departments as appropriate.
Requirements: I’ve already done that or have that!
- 0-2 years of relevant FP&A experience in a high growth organization.
- Experience in computer software/information technology industry preferred.
- Ability to think creatively; highly-driven and self-motivated. The highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable completing projects requiring individual initiative and flexibility in tight time frames with minimal supervision.
- Strong financial acumen broadly across an organization (e.g., understanding of financial statements, Chart of Accounts, business intelligence, FP&A processes, etc.)
- Demonstrated success in developing and applying concepts, practices and procedures of financial planning and analysis. Superior forecasting methods and techniques. Advanced analytical and quantitative abilities.
- Experience in complex modeling (e.g., CAPEX, Headcount, Facilities expansion).
- Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capable of presenting complex financial information in an easy to understand format.
- Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization in an open office setting and a highly collaborative environment.
- Superior software and system skills (e.g. NetSuite, Microsoft Excel, G Suite) a must. NetSuite, Anaplan, and Workday experience a plus.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics/business.
