Senior Data Analyst

At Spotlight, we pride ourselves on leveraging insights from our client’s analyst relations (AR) programs to provide insights that inform our client’s business decisions. The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for research best practices, advising internal teams on methodology, approach to data, and day-to-day research responsibilities, including: analyzing data and developing insights and recommendations to drive intelligence for Spotlight clients - all leading to better business decisions.

Specifically, the Senior Data Analyst, Intelligence will:

• Provide expertise on survey best practices and methodological approaches for customized perception audit surveys and data analysis across the Insights Intelligence team
• Guide Insights Intelligence internal team on data analysis best practices
• Lead research and qualitative and quantitative analysis on data as part of insights intelligence work, including peer reviews, survey data, analyst commentary, and beyond
• Advise team leadership on methodologies, including (but not limited to) tools to use for data analysis, data sets to consider for integration, and overall data team structure 
• Execute a variety of short-term, long-term, and on-demand research projects
• Mine, transform and summarize data from market research, leveraging tools such as Microsoft Excel, SPSS, and PowerPoint
• Tell a story with disparate data sets - synthesizing for internal teams

To be most effective, candidates should be big-picture thinkers, but not afraid to get their hands dirty in data. They should be ready to guide a growing team on data best practices while also digging into the data to understand the story. The ideal candidate must have a strong degree of curiosity and be experienced with data analysis. You should have a voracious interest in data storytelling - pulling together disparate data into a cohesive and concise story.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• An upbeat, fun, and engaging attitude, enjoys working with a team 
• Excellent communication skills and style 
• Strength in internal advising on methodologies and data best practices
• Ability to spot patterns and describe trends
• Experience with Excel, Google Suite, and other statistical software 
• Familiarity with programming languages, such as R or Python, and/or statistical software such as SPSS and SAS,  are great additions 
• Success in coordinating and prioritizing competing deadlines 
• Attention to detail to minimize errors within data manipulation
• Minimum of 5 years of research analyst, marketing analyst, or data analyst experience OR 3-5 years experience with a Master’s Degree in statistics, behavioral/social science, applied math, research, or business analytics 
• Experience in leading or managing a small team is a plus 
• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, behavioral/social science, applied math, research,  or business analytics
