What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr RFP & Proposal Writing Manager position at Spring Health?
We are seeking a Sr RFP & Proposal Writing Manager with expertise in technical writing and project management to lead proposal responses in the strategic and jumbo space (30k headcount organizations). This person will develop engaging content, proposal assets, and other tools in support of overall proposal development, with the goal of achieving Spring Health’s business goals. They will partner with Sales & Employer Strategy on individual proposals and manage relationships with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure proposal compliance.
Having a strong record of success managing large, cross-functional RFP response teams and the ability to work efficiently and autonomously is very important for this position. The role will report to the Senior Manager of Proposal Operations.
What you’ll be doing:
- Own the proposal creation process from RFP to submission for new business prospects and renewing customers in the Strategic and Jumbo markets (30k employees)
- Lead a group of cross-functional subject matter experts to write and edit powerful technical responses for RFPs and RFIs in support of a large team of internal clients, Sales Directors, and Account Executives
- Maintain responsibility for ensuring all proposals are complete, meet consultant standards and effectively position Spring Health as the leading solution in behavioral health
- Writing, editing, and proofreading content
- Follow internal processes to secure needed legal and security documents in support of RFP/RFI and due diligence compliance
- Ensure that the right internal intelligence is collected to help make strategic decisions regarding content
- Stay abreast of changing messaging, new product launches, company policies, and content in the support and maintenance of the company’s content library and marketing assets
- Piece together scattered responses from across a diverse group of subject matter experts and ensure all content is consistent and tailored for individual prospective clients
- Ability to identify and work with relevant subject matter experts (SME) within the business who inform content; motivate and manage SMEs to ensure commitment to reviewing and updating content on a pre-agreed cycle
- Confident in dissecting RFPs and identifying frequently asked questions that need to be maintained in a knowledge base
- Participating in annual and ongoing reviews of the knowledge database
- Leading process improvement initiatives
What we expect from you:
- Minimum of 8 years professional experience, with at least 4 years of managing proposals for opportunities in strategic and jumbo markets (30k employees)
- B2B experience in employee benefits, corporate communications, and new business proposal development; you are capable of becoming a power user of Salesforce and Loopio
- Excellent project management skills to facilitate results across cross-functional groups and in a remote environment
- Upwards leadership skills to communicate effectively with executive leadership, to include presenting proposals for their review
- Value working with a team and the development of relationships with your colleagues
- Strong written and oral presentation skills and a proven ability to understand and communicate technical concepts in a compelling and persuasive manner
- Organized and deadline oriented, able to prioritize workloads and develop resources as needed to meet deadlines
- Intellectually curious, committed to mental healthcare, and able to translate complex subject matter
- Bachelor’s degree compatible to job responsibilities and requirements; masters degree preferred
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
KPIs:
- Proposal Stage progression: an outcome-based measurement of opportunities, assessing success of the proposal via progression of the deal from the “evaluation” to “deep dive” stage
- Proposal Deadlines: an effort-based measurement, ensuring all proposals are submitted to the consultant on time
The target base salary range for this position is $106,400-$138,400, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
