CoRo is a member-driven, shared space coffee roastery and gathering space for the Bay Area coffee community, located in West Berkeley.
It was founded in 2015 by Floy Andrews and Tim Hansen, and is home to over 25 brands of coffee.
We have a beautifully sunlit space with which to serve great coffee to people looking for a unique coffee experience. We are looking for a handful of great baristas to join our team.
Barista, Core Responsibilities
Coffee knowledge, beverage and brew skills, and hospitality excellence
Accurately process transactions in the POS system.
Provide friendly, efficient and personal service to each customer.
Steam milk properly and pou r latte art on all espresso drinks.
Brews batch brew coffee throughout the day, keeping an eye on levels, to ensure there is always drip coffee.
Maintains beverage service standards , especially when working under pressure, at busy times of day.
Maintains a clean and tidy working environment.
Constantly tastes and judges both drip coffee and espresso, to ensure high standards are being met.
Create a rapport with customers by learning their names and favorite drinks.
Foster a culture of openness and engagement with process.
Strive for the highest level of co-worker satisfaction by helping maintain and co-create a positive work environment.
Self awareness; understanding of your own strengths and weaknesses , efficacy, effect on others, and also importantly how you are perceived.
Ride the wave of a constantly rotating coffee menu revolving around CoRo Members roasted coffee offerings.
Stay abreast of the CoRo roastery member brands and personnel.
Gain a general overview of the roasting and green coffee buying processes to share with your fellow CoRo Coffee Room Baristas and our customers.
Remain current with information regarding coffee, roasting equipment, brewing equipment and resources.
Attend in-house coffee related retreats, as well as conventions, or gatherings to maintain CoRo visibility in the community.
Cup and taste coffee regularly to maintain familiarity with product and quality standards.
Be willing to visit cafes and attend coffee events as a representative CoRo.
Physical Demands
Stand and walkmust be able to stand for shifts and move about the caf
Perform repetitive motion with the hands, wrists and forearms to operate espresso machinery
Taste / Smell ability to detect and perceive smell of coffee
Talk / hear frequently communicates with customers and co-workers
Carry weight, lift lift up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
About You
1 2 years experience in specialty or third wave caf service.
Entrepreneurial-minded and ready to use your creative energy to thrive in an innovative caf / educational environment, focused on bringing more consumers to specialty coffee.
Committed to transparency and honesty, and collaborative in nature.
Self-disciplined and ready to take ownership of assigned areas of responsibility.
Self-directed, personally motivated with strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for coffee.
Desire to educate others about our coffee and espresso methods.
Strong attention to detail and healthy respect for cleanliness and sanitation.
Excitement about the task of ensuring that each customer has a quality experience in our caf.
Open to both give and receive both positive and constructive feedback, constantly striving to improve yourself and your team.
Ability to mutlitask.
