Spuncast, Inc. is a small to mid-sized contract manufacturing company specializing in cylindrical castings. Since 1976, our campus in Watertown, WI has grown to two foundries and two machine shops. We focus on centrifugal castings for a diverse number of industries. Our products range from 40-14,000 lbs, 3” to 38" in diameter, and up to 360" in length.
We are currently looking for a skilled machinist for our 3rd shift which is four (4) days at ten (10) hours per day (8:00 pm to 6:00 am, Sunday - Wednesday, with overtime on Thursday).
Summary of Job Description:
Set up, adjust and operate machine shop equipment for a variety of operations to specified tolerances.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate machines, fixtures, and tools, adjusting as needed to conform part to specifications.
- Set up and operation of both manual and CNC machines such as lathe, bore, hone, drill, mill, and turning centers.
- Prepare and maintain documentation of proper production records, including SPC Data/Charts and sequence of operation.
- Perform minor maintenance/repair of machinery.
- Identify parts by metal type and page/lot number to ensure quality piece upon completion.
- Perform work-in-process inspections of work to maintain tolerances to specifications.
- Perform housekeeping of work area and care of tools.
- Determine speeds and feeds and sequence of operations based on material and conditions
- Recommend alternative methods of machining.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Contribute to Spuncast’s Continuous Improvement Plan by actively participating on appropriate teams.
- Work with minimal supervision and to work overtime as needed.
- Safely work with all equipment, supplies, and product in accordance with training and safety manual.
- Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Machining classes desirable but not required)
- 1 to 3 years CNC\Machine shop experience
Knowledge:
- Ability to read blueprints and use measuring devices.
- Good math, communication and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- This position requires an individual to: regularly stand, walk, climb, balance or stoop; frequently reach with hands or arms; lift and/or move up to 75 pounds; use overhead cranes and maneuver other equipment; read technical manuals journals; interpret a variety of instructions and listen to other employees.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Use of hardhat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, and hearing protection is mandatory safety equipment for this position.
