What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distribution/Warehouse Manager position at SquadLocker?
SquadLocker’s Rhode Island-based headquarters is actively searching for a Distribution/Warehouse Manager who will be responsible for the efficient day-to-day operations of the warehouse. In this role, you will be tasked with managing all staff and productivity that sustain warehouse activity and. Additionally, you will continually focus on the improvement of warehouse processes to ensure both internal and external customer needs are being met, while maintain high quality, cost effective logistics services. Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate existing operations to recommend and implement improvements in productivity, accuracy, quality and service level
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for physical distribution site
- Supervise all inbound shipments to ensure they are correctly received and put away in a timely fashion; Confirm that all SOPs are followed
- Oversee the checking of outgoing and incoming freight for proper counts, Carton/Product codes and condition
- Ensure all records and reports regarding warehouse activity are prepared on a timely basis and effectively maintained
- Create daily work schedules based on productivity standards and ensure employees meet standards
- Set goals for productivity improvements
- Recommend training and development opportunities for staff
- Assess warehouse operations daily to ensure warehouse is neat, secure and well organized
- Comply and enforce all OSHA standards
- Optimize warehouse layout to maximize and balance space utilization and handling efficiency; Plan space utilization to meet set cost standards and inventory strategies
- Maintain accurate physical inventories. Define and implement a cycle count program and ensure this program is driving inventory accuracy to 100%
- Recommend and implement corrective actions for all areas of the operation
- Act in accordance with warehouse corporate mission and corporate goals
- Ensure warehouse is accessible and safe for salespeople and customer traffic
Qualifications
We are looking for ambitious individuals with a history of high achievement and the desire to work in a fast-paced environment with peers who challenge them to be better. These are the qualifications:
- 2 years of related experience
- College degree preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and WMS required
- Forklift experience required
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal; Able to express ideas clearly and effectively
- Problem solving and analytical skills; Identify root problems and critical issues, think of new possibilities
- Strong leadership and management skills; Ability to effectively lead meetings
- Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Ability to read, write and communication in English; Bilingual Spanish/English skills a plus
Physical Demands
- Walking, bending, pushing, reaching and lifting up to 50 lbs (additional weight may be required with assistance)
- Noise level generated from other distribution activity can be somewhat loud at times, but no damaging levels or protective equipment required
- Temperature in distribution center can vary greatly from warm to cool
