The serves as a physician leader of the Academic Physician Group of the SSM Health Medical Group.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides leadership to all academic providers and employees, with a focus on improving access, providing exceptional service and outcomes (clinical and financial), and supporting the educational mission of the clinical practice.
- Ensures that clinical care delivery practices align with the mission of SSM Health.
- Supports the vision and drives the Medical Group’s contribution to SSM Health’s transition to population health and a high value clinical delivery network across the continuum through operational integration.
- Ensures that providers demonstrate the values of School of Medicine and SSM Health.
- Develops, monitors and proactively manages key metrics focused on care quality, patient satisfaction, provider and staff satisfaction, growth and financial performance.
- Develops and implements strategic and operational plans to deliver desired outcomes.
- Develops and implements strategic and operational plans to ensure providers are meeting production goals.
- Fosters an engaged clinical staff (Physicians and Advanced practice clinicians.) with attention to provider wellness.
- Supports an optimal clinical learning environment for University Medical Education and Graduate Medical Education
- Collaborates with School of Medicine & SSM to ensure that the clinical environment is conducive to conducting efficient and effective clinical research activities.
- Collaborates with School of Medicine, SSM and the recruiting team to develop and implement a robust provider recruitment and retention plan
- Actively fosters a diverse, equitable, and inclusive professional and care delivery environment
- Represents academic institution and academic medical group on appropriate system forums and committees.
- Partners with department chairs and dean to manage provider coaching and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Partners with regional physician leaders (e.g. CMOs) and hospital leaders to ensure our patients
are cared for in a seamless manner across our entire care continuum.
- Ensures providers are actively driving clinical activities that are needed for successful performance on risk-based contracts (e.g. value-based care, bundled payments).
- In concert with SSM regional leadership, provides overall strategic direction and management of advanced practice providers (APC)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
MD/DO or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
- Fifteen years demonstrated health care leadership in physician operational financial planning and implementation and physician practice management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
