About the Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant Position:
We are looking for a diligent, organized, and accurate Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant to assist in the expansion of our team! The Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant is responsible for assisting the Accounting Department with invoicing, employee payroll administration, and other administrative duties.
Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant Job Description:
The Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant will perform the following tasks:
- Assist in the creation of invoices, the compilation of supporting documentation, and the submittal of invoices to clients.
- Support employee payroll administration, including regular updates to employee contact information and pay rates.
- Provide project accounting assistance using QuickBooks.
- Perform miscellaneous administrative tasks for the Accounting Department and other office departments as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant Job Requirements:
- Considerable knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
- Proficient in QuickBooks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Strong math skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant Schedule:
The Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant position is remote, with required in-person attendance at bi-monthly staff meetings located in Manhattan, NY. Additional meetings may be required on an as-needed basis at the sole discretion of management.
The Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant will typically work standard business hours, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday (40 hours per week). However, at SSPTMS, we pride ourselves on the innovative and unconventional work that we do. Accordingly, our business needs are not always conventional. Aside from our traditional busy seasons, work may need to be performed with limited notice, requiring “all hands-on deck.” The Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant will work with the Accounting Department as needed to get the job done.
Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant FLSA Status and Salary:
The Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant is a full-time, non-exempt position. SSPTMS is committed to equitable pay. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range for this position of $21.00 to $29.00 hourly.
