St. Ann's Home & School, in Methuen, MA, is a leader in special education and residential programming, offering private day programs, child and adolescent residential services, along with a broad range of outpatient services.We are currently seeking a music teacher. This is a part time position. Candidates must possess a Massachusetts licensure in Music (all levels).
This position runs through the school year with the opportunity of a summer school position.The music teacher is responsible for offering all of the students an opportunity to enjoy music. Depending on the nature of the students, class size may vary from a group of 10 to as many as 50 students. The music teacher may be called upon to assist in planning special activities such as holiday celebrations or the awards assembly. It is hoped that this teacher will develop a chorus which will perform at least once within the year.The music teacher should be able to sit and stand for long periods of time, talk for long periods of time, and be able to communicate with other agency personnel, LEA representatives, families and the children.
The music teacher should be able to react quickly, lift and carry up to 20 pounds, climb stairs and be able to physically restrain youth in an emergency to ensure everyones safety is maintained.
