Summary
While performing duties related to St. Clair Health, it’s outpatient centers, and St. Clair Health affiliates, this position is responsible for the procurement of assigned commodities to meet the needs of the Hospital. The duties of the role include supervisory responsibility for material handlers and the shipper/receiver; identification of appropriate sources of supply; negotiation of costs; development of requests for proposals (RFPs); issuance of purchase orders; and pertinent follow-up to complete the supply delivery process.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in business or a related field or at least two years of healthcare-related purchasing experience.
- Excellent communication, project management, analytical skills and the ability to lead projects related to process improvement.
- Experience negotiating contract terms and conditions with suppliers.
- Experience writing and/or facilitating statements of work (SOW) and requests for proposal (RFP) for goods and services.
- Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Strong working knowledge of purchasing and inventory protocols and procedures.
- Previous experience utilizing a computerized materials management system.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
- Past participation on hospital value analysis or product evaluation committees.
- Ability to serve as a project lead in end-to-end RFP processes, and to develop complex financial analyses that quantify the cost impact of locally negotiated and Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts.
- Prior supervisory experience.
