Early Childhood Teacher

St. James Lutheran Early Education Center is seeking a qualified and energetic Christian Early Childhood Teacher to join our team. We have a dedicated, stable staff with low teacher turnover. Our mission: Led by the Spirit, to provide a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for preschool-aged children where they can grow to love God, each other, and their community. We are committed to providing loving care while educating the whole student…soul, mind, and body.

As an early childhood/ preschool teacher you must have a great love and patience for children, and the qualifications needed to teach them effectively including knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods. This is a full-time year-round position.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement creative and engaging lessons and activities for preschool aged children that align with MN state standards and the school’s mission and philosophy.
• Ability to utilize a variety of educational techniques to promote a love of learning.
• Provide a safe and nurturing environment while promoting a love of God and others.
• Observe each child to help them improve their social/emotional development and build selfesteem.
• Good communication skills with parents and other staff members.
• Observe and document children’s progress and development.
• Ability to work both independently and as a team
• Help Maintain a clean center environment consistent with health and safety standards.
• Ability to prepare and serve lunch.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, which may include opening or closing the center.
• Participate in professional development opportunities, special events and staff meetings

Skills

• Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher. (At least 1 year preferred)
• Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods.
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
• Familiarity with MN Rule 3 Licensing regulations.
• Excellent communication and instructional skills.
• Friendly, responsible, and reliable.
• Certification in child CPR and First Aid
• Bachelor's Degree or other relevant education qualifications that meet MN Rule 3 requirements or possess a current CDA.
