Located in Bethpage, St. Joseph Hospital that provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical, critical care and surgical services. Its Emergency Department cares for approximately 33,000 patients a year. Other vital services include an Ambulatory Surgery Unit, The Center for Sleep Medicine, Hyperbaric and Wound Healing Center, CHS Cancer Center, The Center for Speech and Swallowing Disorders, Diabetes Education Center and a full scope of outpatient radiology services, including Cardiac CT.
Responsibilities:
- Under the general direction of the Director and/or Manager, registers, admits and schedules patients to the Hospital Information System, gathers complete data necessary to assure timely reimbursement and accurate registrations.
- Communicates hospital policies, procedures and regulations to patients.
- Prepares patient charts, accurately dispositions and scans all relevant paperwork according to hospital policy and performs other duties as assigned.
- Collects insurance co-payments per department policy.
- Adheres to St Joseph Hospital and department policies/procedures and JCAHO/regulatory agency requirements.
- Demonstrates and promotes service excellence at all times.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required, some college or equivalent education desirable.
- One to two years in a health related field. Knowledge of EPIC and STAR.
- Previous registration, medical insurance background, medical terminology experience preferred.
- Excellence in Customer Service, interview and data accumulation skills, excellent computer/keyboard skills and internet skills are required.
- Ability to navigate from one software system to another efficiently.
- Must pass keyboarding test with ability to type 35 WPM.
