Responsibilities include:
- Responds quickly and effectively to emergent and non-emergent situations.
- Ensures only authorized personnel are admitted onto Hospital premises.
- Responds without undue delay to emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients.
- Patrols buildings and grounds; inspects doors, windows and locks to determine level of security.
- Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by hospital personnel, visitors, physicians or patients.
- Reports all incidents, verbally or through incident report documentation before the end of the shift.
- Inspects, tests, and maintains fire related equipment and apparatus at the Hospital and off sites; conducts fire & safety inspections of buildings.
- Instructs Hospital personnel on fire safety and prevention.
- Regulates and controls vehicular traffic; ensures emergency vehicle access and patrols parking areas to detect any irregularities. Assists and gives courteous responses to any inquiry made by patients, visitors or personnel.
- Writes accurate, clear, legible reports.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience/skills: One year satisfactory experience in the security field, preferably in a hospital or health related facility or newly licensed security officer currently enrolled in and/or have taken relevant college courses highly preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
Licensure: NYS Security License required. Valid NYS driver's license preferred.
Certification: AED Certification required.
