Full Time Night Shift 8:30PM - 7AMDescription
Position Purpose: Responsible for performing polysomnographic technology services with significant supervision by other technical personnel. Tasks include patient hook-up and instruction, monitoring polysomnographic and audiovisual recordings, and other duties assigned. The initial twelve weeks involve significant on-the-job-training. Is able to focus effectively on more than one task, project or person's needs at a time. Primary Responsibilities: 80% Clinical and research polysomnography duties include, but are not limited to:
- Apply physiologic monitoring devices with supervision
- Conduct polysomnographic recordings, document observations and make recording decisions with significant supervision following established policies and procedures
- Troubleshoot equipment and physiologic recording problems with supervision
- Assist with CPAP titration with significant supervision - Provide assistance with research subjects including neurologic and performance testing as instructed 20% Other duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide patient instruction regarding testing procedures and application and use of CPAP and Bi-level positive pressure with supervision
- Perform equipment cleaning and maintenance activities as directed
- Communicate with professional staff during on-call and other situations - Participate in inservices, case conferences, workshops and other department meetings as instructed
- Assistance patients during test procedures
Education
Education High school graduate or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in related sciences preferred.
License - Certification - Registration (Text Only)
RPSGT - Registered Polysomnographic Technologist required.Experience
Qualifications: Education High school graduate or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in related sciences preferred. Experience Related allied health experience or prior experience in a sleep-testing lab preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities BLS certification is required and must be obtained within three months of start date. Above average verbal and written communication skills are needed. Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team is essential. Employee must be capable of using computer data acquisition and analysis equipment. Employee may be alone with a patient and must be able to handle emergencies without assistance. Employee must be able to lift or assist a falling or fallen patient, must be able to administer BLS alone.
