DIVINE SAVIOR PARISH, DOWNERS GROVE, IL
MUSIC DIRECTOR
Divine Savior Parish seeks a Music Director who is a talented, self-starter and an energetic person who will plan, coordinate, and execute the music for the liturgical celebrations of the parish.
REPORTS TO: The Pastor
Responsibilities:
- Plan and provide music, as well as coordinate choirs, cantors and musicians as needed for including but not limited to, weekend masses, holy days, funerals, weddings, Confirmations, First Communions, Lenten and Advent services, Christmas, oly Week HoHoly Week and Easter services.
- Maintain a pool of cantors and choir; prepare schedules and execute rehearsals.
- Maintain an organized sacred music library and maintain a detailed inventory of all sacred music materials owned by the parish.
- Work closely with the Pastor as needed.
- Attend staff meetings as needed.
- Maintain and coordinate repairs and tuning of all parish instruments.
- Assist in the budget process for the music department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in piano, organ, and vocals.
- Evidence of a strong background and knowledge of liturgical music and liturgy in the Roman Catholic Tradition.
- Bachelor of Arts in Music, Music Performance, Music Education, or relevant experience.
- Experience in rehearsing vocalists and instrumentalists.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills for written communications and verbal interactions with volunteers, guest musicians and all parishioners.
- Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter.
