Description of the Position: Do you have a passion for photography and an interest in sports? The St. Olaf Athletic Department is looking for students interested in working as photographers at home athletic events. You will work alongside other students and staff members to shoot a variety of sports. Students can use their own camera and lenses (if you have them) or the department’s equipment.
Prior experience with photography, especially sports photography, is preferred but not required. Students will receive training as needed.
Work hours are almost exclusively on afternoons and nights during the week and on weekends. Students have the opportunity to sign up for shifts that fit their schedule, but students typically work 5-10 hours per week. The expectation is that students will work multiple shifts per week.
Transferable Skills: Photography, communication skills, ability to work in a team and independently, problem solving
Duties and Responsibilities: Students will work with the Athletics Creative & Digital Media Strategist to shoot home athletic events on campus in a variety of sports. Students will also upload photos to the department’s Google Drive and create photo galleries.
Qualifications: Photography experience, especially sports photography, is strongly preferred. Interest in and knowledge of sports is preferred. Experience in photo editing and with Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom is preferred. Attention to schedule and willingness to arrive on time and stay until work is done. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to communicate clearly and concisely. Strong work ethic, responsibility, and ability to work independently.
