We are seeking a self-motivated, customer-oriented Software Quality Assurance Specialist to join our Accelerator/Incubator team in Stafford, VA to support our agile development efforts. With a mission to perpetuate continuous innovation with constant engagement from the users, our team is charged with developing user-centric Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) — core features required to deliver capabilities that have been designed with and prioritized by users.

 

This position requires an ACTIVE DoD SECRET Clearance with the ability to be cleared to TS/SCI.

General Responsibilities:

  • Analyze requirements or user stories across products and applications to identify acceptance criteria, test cases and test scenarios
  • Establish best practices and procedures for defining User Acceptance Tests and ensure delivery of high-quality products
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure quality testing practices are incorporated across the development cycle
  • Identify and document feature requirements for Minimum Viable Product (MVP) development
  • Collaborate with development and operational teams to develop viable solutions for customers and users
  • Analyze current and future requirements
  • Research and analyze product features being tested
  • Research new tools, technologies, and testing processes
  • Review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics (e.g. defect densities and open defect counts)
  • Attend reviews to ensure risks and opportunities are appropriately documented, tracked, evaluated, and managed or mitigated
  • Conduct tests before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets client needs
  • Provide general support to development team and customers
  • Perform and document risk analysis and record test progress and results
  • Able to multi-task, work independently and as part of a team, share workloads, and deal with sudden shifts in project priorities

 

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree +5 years’ experience, or Associate's Degree +7 years' experience, in computer science, software design, engineering, or a High School Diploma +12 years of relevant experience in software testing or other IT related fields.
  • Must be DoD 8570.01 compliant (IAT II) within 90 days of the hire date.
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Ability to work in an agile, dynamic, and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to elicit and manage user requirements
  • Ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity as the team applies design thinking to solve complex business challenges
  • Ability to create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans/cases
  • Ability to estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate quality testing activities
  • Develop standards and procedures to determine product quality and release readiness
  • Identify, isolate, and track bugs within software
  • Possess strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and organization capabilities
  • Understand the big picture surrounding the solution to be developed; develop vague ideas into technical, functional, and operational requirements
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to lead others in a team-oriented environment, to include direct, professional engagement with the customer
  • Demonstrated ability to work with the customer to understand requirements and obtain clarification on the intent of the requirements

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • Experience in software development
  • Knowledgeable in continuous improvement process/Lean/Six Sigma theory and practice
  • Team building, group dynamics, and process facilitation
  • Knowledge of Industry recognized quality standards, systems, and models such as Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
  • Agile management support of development teams
  • Knowledge of, and experience supporting, USMC or DoD programs preferred
