What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer - Tooling Molding position at STAFF ICONS, LLC?
In the Tooling and Molding Engineer role, you will perform activities related to the implementation, troubleshooting, maintenance, programming and continuous improvement of injection molding processes required to support new and existing products. You will implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and affect greater utilization of labor and materials.

- Comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices ensuring such practices are followed.
- Monitor equipment performance to ensure product quality meets specifications.
- Participate in product and equipment investigations, report and investigate non-conformities.
- Audit equipment processes and logs for any potential issues.
- Improve, optimize and implement processes to be stable and repeatable.
- Responsible for training of all personnel in regards to machine set-up, start-up, robot / vision system programing, material handling and continuous improvements.
- Responsible for installation, diagnostic repairs of Machines and Robotics / Automation.
- Provide expertise knowledge related to Plastics Field Equipment and Rubber Manufacturing utilizing a high degree of electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic diagnosis.
- Manage the phases of qualification for tooling and sharpening (FAT, SAT, Validation support).
- Assist and responsible for the review of safety standards of the Industrial tooling / components.
- Coordinate tooling and equipment availability, repair and maintenance.
- Maintain appropriate spare part inventory.
- Implement and manage all maintenance functions, including but not limited to preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance on all injection molding and premium coat equipment.
- Manage the documentation transfer while maintaining the Data Integrity.
- Examine and measure molded goods to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring devices, microscopes, gauges, or calipers.
- Perform quality checks to ensure that products meet specifications and customer order requirements.
- Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintain and improve housekeeping standard in all areas.
- Maintain individual skills keeping up to date with latest molding scientific technology.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in plastics engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related field
- 3-5 years related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Proven knowledge of setting up new molds and processes for various polymers and their behavior in injection molding processes
- Mathematical skills needed for scientific molding and various calculations needed
- Experience in medium/high volume Medical, Pharmaceutical, Automotive or Food Industry
- Proven experience in Mechanical, Plastics/Materials Engineering and Automation, Rubber and tooling
- Experience of plastic injection mold tooling and equipment troubleshooting setting up and operating an injection molding operation
- Experience of polymer parts design for quality molding (design for manufacture)
- Understanding of modern mold and automation techniques and systems (Mold Flow analysis, Cavity pressure transducers, Scientific molding process)
- Ability to read, interpret and train others on blueprints, schematics, technical documentation
- Technical report writing skills
- Self-motivated, ability to prioritize, lead and complete projects with limited direction
- Ability to document and communicate validation requirements and deviations encountered. Good understanding of the validation techniques for mold/molding parts and automation
- Good knowledge in Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Knowledge in the use of six sigma and statistical tools like process capability, SPC, DOE
- Demonstrate the ability to work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious
- Good understanding of quality issues relating to plastic parts manufacture
- Proven knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes and production equipment
- Proven knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and manufacturing quality tools
- Self-Starter with excellent technical understanding, writing and communication skills.
- Able to work with a diverse cross-functional team with minimal supervision.
- Computer literate (Microsoft, Lotus Notes, Project Management, Maples, SAP)
- Knowledge of ISO, GMPs,
- Ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods while performing essential job duties
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to use close vision, color vision, and depth perception for extended periods
- Ability to utilize and apply dexterity in carrying out bench level mechanical troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance
