Produce Assistant Manager

The position also includes ordering and managing inventory.  

POSITIVE ATTRIBUTES

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide excellent customer service and address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner. 

• Follow proper procedures for customer assistance, produce handling, organic standards, etc

• Maintain a safe, clean and well-organized working and shopping environment 

• Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations, Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices.

• Answer department telephone calls and pages quickly and with excellent phone etiquette.

• Support Produce Manager in supervising the produce staff

• Keep walk-in refrigerators clean and organized

• Check in deliveries for quality and quantity, and ensure proper storage of all items

• Ensure produce staff completes all responsibilities, including- Filling their section, end of shift clean up, proper rotation, and organizing Avocados, Tomatoes, Oranges, Apples, Mangoes, Bananas, Lemons, Packaged Salads, and the dressings.

• Ensure the department is clean at all times, and direct produce employees to clean sections as needed

• Any and All Other Duties as Needed 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team

• Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow team members and customers

• Ability to follow instructions and procedures

• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs

• Willingness to work in various temperatures, and varying degrees of moisture and slime

• Ability to learn about natural and organic foods, terms, and products

• Strong work ethic and integrity

• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a sense of urgency

• Use of tools and equipment, including box cutters and knives
