What are the responsibilities and job description for the Master Scheduler position at StaffingForce?
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years experience in Purchasing or Production Control. Experience required in a manufacturing environment and exposure to paints, chemicals, film or metals is preferred. * Education:
Bachelor’s degree or 6 years with demonstrated ability to be educated at a higher level. Continued education through purchasing seminars and work towards CPM Certification. Knowledge of Purchasing, Inventory Control System, and Production Control.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- . Determine all sources of demand on manufacturing resources, such as customer product order backlogs, sales forecasts, service item demands, engineering pilot runs, equipment installation, upgrade, and maintenance requirements, etc.
- . Identify manufacturing resources limitations per unit of time, such as machine capacities, staffing, floor space requirements, etc. Understand relative flexibility of these resources, and costs associated with changing resources levels over short and long-range time periods.
- . Understand and participate in the Fiscal Business Planning Process to allow a regular assessment of the relationship of the periodic, item specific Master Production Schedule (MPS) to the stated Business Plan over equivalent periods.
- . In conjunction with executive level management and Sales and Marketing support, develop, publish, and enforce plan stability time fences which effectively recognize limited manufacturing responsiveness yet strive for a broad positive influence on customer service requirements.
- . Review sales forecasts with Marketing and Sales on a regular basis to determine forecast legitimacy, anticipate promotions or other one time events which could influence statistically calculated projections, and determine product mix emphasis and priority during periods of tightly committed manufacturing resources.
- . Interface with available computer systems designed to support the areas of Master Scheduling, Forecasting, Material Requirements Planning, and any other materials and capacity planning system. Ensure proper procedures and developed and followed within the system that align with good Master Scheduling disciplines.
- . Review periodic schedule progress to determine problems and possible solutions. Modify plan to reflect schedule alternatives for identified problems. The plan should always reflect the best alternative(s) to accomplish business plan objectives for identified production or resource problems.
