Job Duties:
• Setup and operate conventional mills, lathes, and EDM machines
• Interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, and detailed written instructions for component fabrication
• Select holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and accessories for machining parts in lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, and EDM sinker machines
• Verifies finished work piece conforms to specifications
• May redline drawings after fabrication to enhance productivity of the part on future orders
• Machine items on conventional machines
• Interface with Quality Assurance to ensure high quality standards
• Assist in maintaining shop cleanliness
• Adhere to safety rules and compliance regulations
• Adhere to shift schedule
Marginal Duties:
• Basic machine maintenance as necessary (i.e. checking air pressure, re-filling way lube)
• Wipe down machinery
• Sweep and/or mop shop floors
• Empty trash cans
• Organize work areas
• Prepare materials for upcoming projects (cutting copper sheets, lapping work pieces, etc.)
• Re-sharpen tools
• Assist in other areas as needed.

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 5 years of experience in machining technologies or related field
• Able to analyze blueprints and customer data specifications to provide timely and successful completion of tasks assigned to the machine shop.
• Basic knowledge of different materials used for machine parts
• Understands speeds and feeds relative to type of material and size of work piece
• Proficient in basic math skills
• Basic computer skills and clear understanding of Microsoft Office software, especially Word and Excel.
• Able to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
