We are seeking a highly motivated Head of Quality who is a proactive self-starter and excels in a dynamic startup environment. In this role, you will be responsible for reporting to the Director of Operations and leveraging your expertise to improve the quality assurance operations of the company.


A Day in the Life:

As a valued member of our team, your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Working onsite at our South San Francisco office
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Drive the creation and adoption of best practices, work instructions for building our products, and SOP's to achieve consistent quality across all production processes for employees to be trained against.
  • Ensure adherence to the guidelines and standards as defined by Engineering and our clientele across all projects.
  • Oversee the inspection and testing processes to verify product conformance to specifications, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor customer feedback and implement measures to improve customer satisfaction, address customer concerns, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to enhance product performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish all project requirements that are met in design, prototyping and production.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure adherence to quality standards, perform audits, and drive supplier development activities to enhance overall supply chain quality.
  • Partner with auditors and regulatory bodies, provide necessary documentation, and lead corrective actions to address any findings.
  • Plan and coordinate internal and external audits to assess compliance with ISO 9001 standards and ITAR regulations.
  • Lead investigations into root causes, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), and drive continuous improvement to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and deliver quality-related training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of employees.
  • Foster a culture of quality awareness and ensure all staff members are equipped with the necessary tools to contribute to quality improvement efforts.


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in quality management, engineering, manufacturing management, business management, or a related field, or equivalent degree or experience.
  • Minimum of 7-9 years of experience in quality or manufacturing
  • Experience leading a team from product development, production, and full product life cycle.
  • Proven experience working with ISO 9001 and ISO 26262 certified organizations.
  • In-depth understanding of quality processes and procedures, relevant certifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in generating detailed, data-driven reports through analysis and statistical methods.
  • Familiarity with technology, including hardware, mechanical, and software development.
  • Experience in the start-up environment

  • Master's degree in quality management, engineering, manufacturing management, business management, or equivalent degree or experience
  • Experience with Atlassian or Wiki Management
  • Experience with ITAR
  • Experience with issue management systems (e.g. Jira)
  • Interest in battery technology, electric, or hybrid vehicles
