ORGANIZATION

STAGES St. Louis is the region’s foremost not-for-profit theatre company committed to preserving and advancing the art form of Musical Theatre through excellence in performance and education. STAGES opened in 1987 with a $50,000 budget and a part-time staff of eight. Today, the company employs a full-time staff of 20 overseeing a $7 million budget. During the performance season, an additional 150 actors, designers, technicians, and front of house staff bring the production experience to life. To date, STAGES has produced 105 musicals, with nearly 3,500 performances. STAGES Artistic and Education programs have been recognized for their excellence by numerous organizations including the Missouri Arts Council’s Arts Organization Award, Arts and Education Council’s Excellence in the Arts Award, and St. Louis Convention & Visitor’s Commission’s All-Star Award. STAGES Founders, Jack Lane and Michael Hamilton, were honored with the Arts and Education Council’s Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award in 2020 and are the upcoming Special Lifetime Achievement honorees at the 2022 St. Louis Theater Circle Awards. Since its founding, STAGES has also been the proud recipient of more than 50 St. Louis Theatre Circle, Kevin Kline, and Broadway World St. Louis Awards for excellence in Musical Theatre. In addition, STAGES educates thousands of students each year at its Performing Arts Academy.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Executive Producer, reports to the Board of Directors, works with the Artistic Director, and provides overall strategic leadership that focuses on the production, organizational, and relational management of the organization. The Executive Producer should be a focused and kind leader and an excellent negotiator. The ideal candidate should have a keen business sense and an intimate knowledge and respect for all aspects of theatre production, finance, marketing, and philanthropy.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Significant managerial experience with non-profit organization(s) with prior leadership experience working with a theatre company or performing arts venue.
  • Demonstrate a passion for all aspects of theatre and the connection between theatre and the community while committing to creating inclusive and diverse programming.
  • Demonstrate experience and capacity to lead, manage, inspire, and collaborate with staff, artists, Board members and volunteers.
  • Possess a wide knowledge of theatre history and literature, as well as successful experience with producing, fundraising, and non-profit arts management.
  • Have a familiarity with the St. Louis theatre community and arts ecosystem, as well as strong ties to the national/international performing arts world.
  • Have a broad knowledge of and considerable experience in all aspects of theatre; have a strong community driven vision; and a proven track record of overseeing a successful non-profit arts organization.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time, year-round, exempt position. STAGES offers a competitive salary expected to be in the range of $90,000 to $100,000 that is commensurate with experience.
