STAND 8 provides end to end IT solutions to enterprise partners across the United States with offices in Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta and more, including internationally in Mexico, India and Japan.
We are recruiting a Network Support Technician to deliver advanced assistance in technology-related issues, primarily within the newsroom or production environment, but also aiding with events as necessary. This role entails providing hardware and software support for crucial computers and technical systems vital for live and pre-recorded show broadcasts. The role demands a robust technical IT background to ensure seamless on-air operations of server-based digital video and audio control systems, graphics and non-linear editing systems, automation systems, and their interconnected software and hardware infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Provide Support for Newsrooms (Control Rooms & Studios) and Editors
- Point of contact for location(s), its service(s) and its process(es).
- Provide recommendations based on requests and requirements from business and tech groups.
- Assists in managing weekly client onboarding for - New Hire employees and contractors working closely with HR department, contractor vendor and internal team members.
- Manage numerous applications relating to - News production, Communication, Storage, Content Editing, File transfers, Backoff applications (O365) and Financials within the Microsoft and Apple ecosystems.
- Maintain Active Directory, create and delete users and computer accounts as needed.
- Management of data on shared storage.
- Install and configure Windows servers and PCs with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems.
- Direct Support for Newsroom Computer Systems (NRCS), and related equipment - Teleprompters, playout automation systems (Sony ELC and Crispin).
- Broadcast IT Functions (Air Control, Transmission and Media Distribution operations)
- Knowledge and support of basic A/V.
- Helpdesk Operations - Opening and closing Service Now tickets.
- Asset Management - Update Asset Information related to asset status.
- Assist in troubleshooting of Network issues.
- Work directly with clients on Troubleshooting, Hardware Refreshed and OS Upgrades. Through - walk in, scheduled appointments, remotely or at client's desk/office.
- Upgrade and/or set up computer computer related equipment.
- Ability to physically carry and move equipment.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of IT broadcast related support
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft O365 support and maintenance
- Experience working with and supporting clients and endpoints in a creative environment
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively guide, support, and escalate anomalies for all end-users in a live 24/7 broadcast facility
- Position should be able to think quickly to get Broadcasts on air in a high stress live broadcast environment.
- Experience with Domain management (eg. GPOs, Accounts, OUs, Security Groups)
- Knowledge of network administration - routers/switches, subnetting, VLANs.
- Must be available to work evenings/weekends/Holidays, early and late hours
- Must be able to travel for emergencies without much notice
- BA in IT or Media related field, applicable industry certificates, or equivalent experience
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds of computer equipment, carry, and set-up.
- Mostly indoors at Broadcast Center, some outdoor remote work may be necessary
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of ENPS or INews support and installations
Additional Details
The base range for this contract position is $20 - $25/per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
