T i tle: Machinist\nShift: 2nd & 3rd Shifts available with a 10% shift differential\nSpecific Accountabilities\n- Reads and interprets specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operation to be performed.\n- Computes dimensions and tolerances and measures and lays out work pieces.\n- Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers. Troubleshoots, debugs and modifies to achieve expected performance.\n- Adjusts and sets up machine tools for use by machining tool operators.\n- Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes.\n- Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.\n- Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.\n- Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.\n- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.\n- Carries out other duties as assigned.\nTechnical Requirements\n- High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision.\n- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing, tool design, fabrication methods and processes, metallurgy and heat treating.\n- Working knowledge of welding, hydraulics, electricity and pneumatics.\n- Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.\n- Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.\n- Strong mathematical aptitude.\n- Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, rework process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals, and MSDS labels.\n- Working knowledge of production management computer systems and other related internal control systems.\n- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day.\n- Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods.\n- Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program; or equivalent.\n- Attainment of trade certification.\nBackground Information\nThe typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to high school graduation and completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school. The person requires an ability to understand, utilize and communicate specialized information in speech and written text. This specialized training is often formalized and recognized by a specific certificate, diploma or license.\nDirectly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is one to three years.\nOngoing work assignments typically have clearly defined goals. The incumbent's education, training, and previous experience ensure work assignments are successfully carried out because he/she understands what is expected, as well as the best approach to take.
