What You’ll Do
As a Designer Components, you’ll be part of our Outdoor Products team located in Valley city OH. As a On-site employer You’ll get to:
• PCB Designer:
o Design printed circuit board layouts based on schematic diagrams from electrical hardware engineers and mechanical engineers
o Make modifications to printed circuit board designs based on engineering guidance
o Check printed circuit designs for accuracy, manufacturability and conformance to standards
o Perform design rule checks (DRC)
o Generate complete and accurate documentation for printed circuit boards (PCBs) and bills of material (BOMs) for full printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) manufacturing
o Interact with contract manufacturers to bring design to mass production
•Component Librarian:
o Lead a one-time component library consolidation effort to create a company-wide library including release of actively used components into PLM system
o Maintain electronic component library including schematic symbol, corresponding PCB footprint and 3D model data for all new components based on engineering requests
o Review and recommend alternative components to engineering for consideration and approval based on market or business need
o Support supply chain on long lead time component identification and risk mitigation
o Work with engineering to qualify new components for designs

Proficient with PCB design including layout considerations for
ESD and EMC/EMI control
Embedded systems
High current power supply
Matched impedances
Prior experience with Altium PCB design software
Experience with mechanical 3D modeling software – MTD uses Siemens NX
Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems is a plus
Strong technical skills including low cost hardware design, design for reuse, critical thinking, problem solving and data analysis
Strong professional skills including project management, time management, verbal and written communication and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal skills including teamwork and having a positive, “can do” attitude
Cross functional experience working with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to ensure proper execution and delivery of product to market
