Job Scope:
The Sales & Marketing Development Program (SMDP) is the beginning of your career journey. This early-career program is designed to build a foundation for growth within sales, management, and marketing. Associates are immersed into the world of our end-users and business partners supporting our multi-billion-dollar retail customers. You'll be supported by comprehensive training program which develops your sales skills and leadership qualities along with product training on industry leading brands; DEWALT, Stanley, Black & Decker, Craftsman, Porter-Cable, IRWIN and Lenox.
As a sales representative, you will manage a territory of Lowes home improvement stores. In this role, you're responsible for driving sales, managing merchandising and hosting events. You'll build relationships with key decision makers and collaborate to create a sell through strategy for your market. This is an active, hands-on role. You'll work daily in your territory of retail stores and will need to be able to lift 50lbs, build displays and climb ladders, to merchandise products.
As you advance as a sales representative you'll be introduced to a wide range of opportunities within sales, management, and marketing. As a member of the program relocation is required for the first sales position and may be required for future promotional opportunities after the program.
We're looking for individuals who are goal-oriented, self-starters who are successful working independently and, in a team-based environment. We're seeking someone with effective selling skills and a strong problem solver to achieve desired results. You also will need excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of people within the retail environment and Stanley Black & Decker.

This role will put you on the front lines of our sales and marketing team, and you'll be responsible for a multimillion-dollar territory. In addition to impacting the purchasing decisions of thousands of customers, you'll see first-hand what works and what doesn't in merchandising and marketing within retail.
In a typical day, you will visit two stores, rotating through your territory. You'll invest your time building relationships with key store personnel, maintaining merchandising fundamentals, assisting with product sales, and executing event initiatives.
In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you'll need:
Organizational skills to maximize efficiency during store calls. Be task orientated with the ability to take direction and successfully complete corporate marketing initiatives. The ability to strategically solve day-to-day store operational issues and effectively overcome objections and obstacles. Demonstrate consistent attention to detail. The ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment. The ability to think outside the box to create solutions and a willingness to learn new concepts and take feedback constructively. Enthusiasm for labor-intensive activities and working with your hands.

- Bachelor's degree or 3-5 years equivalent work experience in a sales or customer service role (retail or field experience preferred), or equivalent Military experience
- Must be willing to travel regionally, work occasional weekends

- Must pass a background and driving record check given that this position is driving in nature
