The BCOL is an integral role within our leadership team for BC 1736 within the Transportation Business line, supporting a 70-person team located throughout the North Central region. There is significant opportunity for growth within the North Central region and the BCOL will play a critical role in supporting this expansion. Your Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Regional Business Leader (RBL), the BCOL is responsible for leading and managing the business center (BC); accountable for attracting and retaining talent, efficient resource management, operations management, effective delivery of professional services, financial performance and for sustaining and growing net revenue, gross margin and operating income within the BC.
- The BCOL is the recognized operational leader of a Business Center (BC), accountable for the attainment of the BC's management, financial, growth and performance objectives.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute a regional growth strategy for the BC. Identify trends and develop a long-term view of the region, markets and client basis. Prepare and make recommendations of financial forecasting to position the business competitively.
- Support the annual business plan and budget for the BC outlining the vision, focus, and priorities for implementation and setting specific goals for business performance in the region.
- Pursue, lead and/or contribute to strategic and significant pursuits, proposals and projects.
- With strong operational skills and working collaboratively with the BC Practice Leaders, the BCOL is responsible for the attainment of financial operating results and objectives of the BC, the development of annual operating budgets and the preparation and implementation of the BC business plan, with a primary focus on growth, technical excellence and financial objectives.
- Responsible for staff resourcing, balancing project workload and utilization of people and project resources across the BC in collaboration with BC leadership.
- Build, grow and develop a team of high performers throughout the BC.
- Drive Stantec’s Safer Together culture, prioritizing the health and safety of our employees.
- Be accountable for achieving key safety performance metrics for the US North Central region.
- Responsible for the health and safety performance of the business line, including the monitoring of leading and lagging indicators and following up on Business Center Improvement Plans.
- Promote compliance with regulatory requirements and the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment & Sustainability (HSSE) management system.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of the Transportation Industry and North Central Transportation market and market trends with emphasis on collaboration and operational efficiency.
- Strong leadership, financial management, communication and team building skills are essential for the candidate to meet the expectations of this challenging position.
- Prior consulting experience, within the Transportation sector, and established client and agency contacts are desirable.
- Established understanding of the local market conditions, staff retention and development and the operations of the various groups that make up BC 1736 is a must.
- A successful BCOL will possess strong communication and business development skills and be a results- oriented individual who excels in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- The candidate will have a desire to succeed, be enthusiastic, and possess a high degree of integrity.
- An appropriate utilization goal will be established with the successful candidate.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of related experience including design, engineering, leadership, and business development strongly preferred.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license in state of residence strongly preferred.
