Your Opportunity
Under the direction of the ROW Project Manager, you will possess a good working knowledge of all right of way disciplines; title, permitting, acquisition and documentation. Full time, long term Right of Way Agent available for the Roanoke/Richmond, VA office locations. Stantec is considering all experience levels. Coverage area includes Lynchburg, Roanoke and southwest regions of Virginia
Your Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures
- Performs right of way activities to include: the research of records, negotiations with affected property owners and/or their representatives for the acquisition of right of way
- Participates and/or prepares property evaluations for right of way activities
- Acts as an internal point person for coordination of technical support
- Performs thorough quality control (QA/QC) pertaining to real estate documents associated with projects
- Attends meetings to explain projects with clients, engineers, representatives and affected parties
- Prepares reports for weekly construction project status meetings and reports on the status of right of way acquisition
- Entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents for file management
- Performs other right of way duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
- Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team
- Handling of customer complaints and issues
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Thorough understanding of right of way practices and procedures
- Able to work efficiently under tight deadlines, as well as balance multiple projects by prioritizing effectively
- Ability to read and interpret right of way maps and plans as well as interpret land survey documents
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovation
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Approachable and good at interacting with diverse groups of people
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task on various task and projects
- Ability to work with a team and independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others
- Familiarity with the provisions of the VDOT Right of Way Manual as it applies to the acquisition of property
- Familiarity with project management cycle
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Education and Experience
- Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience within ROW required
- Survey background preferred
- Prior real estate experience preferred (easement/site acquisition/etc)
- Valid driver’s license
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
- Notary Public is required
- Drug screening is required
Position will primarily work in the field (50%) and remote and in-person office setting (50%); Frequently visits construction sites or works in outside weather conditions.
