Your Opportunity
Stantec is looking for a Senior Civil and Environmental Engineer with a focus in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and modeling based in our Reno, Lake Tahoe, or Bishop offices. The Civil Engineer will perform hydrologic and hydraulic studies of existing site conditions, develop hydrologic and hydraulic models of existing and design conditions, perform hydraulic calculations to support engineering designs, and develop technical reports and presentations for small ($50k budget) to large (million $ ) projects throughout the western U.S.

The candidate should have the skills required to effectively communicate with, collaborate with, take direction from, and be mentored by a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of scientists, modelers, engineers, planners, and other technical staff across multiple offices. The role will require diverse work (mostly computer-based with some field work) that will vary
month to month dependent on work assignments.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations
- Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models (using SWMM/HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS)
- Complete pre and post-processing model data (using GIS and Excel)
- Identify data needs and evaluate datasets
- Write technical reports describing the methodology and results of analyses
- Develop and present technical presentations
- Review work and evaluate the soundness of results
- Follow precise instructions and ask questions when unclear
- Maintain clean and organized files and folder structures
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
- Complete quality work within budgets and timelines with support from the project manager
- Communicate project status, schedule, and issues with project managers and design team
- Work on the following types of projects: erosion and flood control, river restoration, stormwater drainage, recreation improvement, flood mapping, and hydroelectric dam relicensing
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Solid understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic concepts, methods, standards, and calculations
- Proficient with hydrologic and hydraulic software packages (e.g., SWMM/HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS 1D/2D)
- Competence with GIS and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Education and Experience
- B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- PE in California, or ability to obtain through reciprocity within 12 months
- 10 years of engineering experience
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):
Salary Range(s):
- $108,000 - $162,000 (CA, CO, WA locations only)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
